“Versioning” Enforces Compliance and Reduces Manual Documentation

Slingshot has added “versioning” capabilities for checklists and material related data. Checklists allow you to automate and document the completion of steps required for receiving, shipping, manufacturing batches and other processes. Checklists are built from a template created by your organization. Versioning allows you to change a template and retain the version applicable to a specific shipment, receipt, workorder etc. Item master versioning provides a similar capability for changes to the item master record, such as a bill of materials or a bill of resources, or other material related data.
When a change is initiated by an authorized user, all information is copied to an inactive “preliminary” version. Approvals or other workflow steps can be associated with the new version. When the steps are completed, the new version is activated and the former version deactivated. All versions remain in the database so the rules in place for a given material item, shipment, receipt, lot or manufacturing order can be reviewed in the future.
Versioning eliminates the need to retain manual documentation to track these changes. It also ensures the proper process was followed and approvals obtained before the new version was activated. Versioning was completed for Slingshot release Gx. For more information contact your slingshot sales or support representative.
